Questions and answers
Is Local Knowledge Fishing free to use?
Yes. Every species profile, guide and location page on this site is free to read, with no registration or paywall. The site is funded by advertising and a small number of affiliate links, both of which are clearly disclosed.
Who writes the content on this site?
All content is written in-house by our contributors, each of whom fishes the regions and species they write about. Guides are reviewed and dated so you can see when they were last updated.
Do you offer guided fishing trips?
No. We are an information resource, not a charter operator. We do not take bookings or receive commissions from charter businesses, which keeps our location recommendations independent.
Are your gear recommendations paid placements?
No. We recommend gear we have used. Some outbound retail links are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. That never determines whether a product is recommended. See our affiliate disclosure for full details.
Can I submit a catch report or correct an error?
Absolutely. Email us and we will review it. Corrections to regulations, seasons or location details are especially welcome — fisheries rules change and we want the site to stay accurate.
Do your pages replace official fisheries regulations?
No. Size limits, bag limits, closed seasons and protected zones change regularly and vary by state. Always confirm current rules with your state or territory fisheries authority before fishing.
Can I advertise on Local Knowledge Fishing?
Yes. We work with tackle brands, charter operators and tourism bodies. Email us for a current media kit and available placements.
